Introduction

Over the past few years I have had the privilege to speak to groups about things that I'm interested in. I have spoken to the Massachusetts Route 128 Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants and BMAC, Boston Macintosh User Group. I am personally significantly involved with both groups, being both a Certified Management Accountant and a die hard Mac fan. The presentations are available as PDF files via the links to the left and via the links in the text below. Enjoy.

Presentations for the Mass Route 128 Chapter of the IMA

The Institute of Management Accountants is dedicated to promoting the profession of management accounting. Management accounting is, "...the process of identification, measurement, accumulation, analysis, preparation, interpretation, and communication of financial information used by management to plan, evaluate, and control within an organization and to assure appropriate use of and accountability for its resources." The organization has numerous chapters accross the country. I actively participate in Massachusetts Route 128 Chapter.

A Social Security Update
This presentation was made at a local restaurant in Lexington, MA on March 16, 2004. At that point in time president George W. Bush had proposed personal accounts as a tool to fix the Social Security system. This created a national debate unfortunately ending with the democrats in Congress refusing to come to the table and postponing the correction of one of the significant problems facing this nation. The data upon which this presenation is based upon is updated annually and so far the data indicates that the problem has gotten worse. The points made in the presentation are still relevant. A Social Security Update.
Blogs and Podcasts - What They Mean to You
On May 17, 2006 the Mass Route 128 Chapter met in Lexington, MA and I presented an introduction to blogs and podcasts. The audience was comprised of accounting professionals who hd not yet had an opportunity to investigate these recent technologies. Blogs and Podcasts - What They Mean to You.

Presentations for BMAC, Boston Macintosh User Group

BMAC, Boston Macintosh User Group, held its first meeting as BMAC in September 1995 at MIT. However, its roots actually go back much further. BMAC originated as the Macintosh Group within the Boston Computer Society. The Society faded away in 1995 however the Mac users simply continued to meet on a volunteer basis and have continued to do so ever since.

Creating Your Own Blog
This presentation occurred on October 12, 2005 at MIT. It was based upon my personal experience creating my own blog, Harding's Blog on Blogger.com. Creating Your Own Blog.
How to Create a Podcast
On December 15, 2005 I made my second presentation in three months to BMAC. Like the presentation in October, this presentation was based upon my recent personal experiences creating my own podcast entitled Patriotcast. Patriotcast is available on iTunes and via the Patriotcast Blog. How to Create a Podcast.
